Realizing the bananas where on their last leg, I asked Bri if she would like to bake some bread with me. Always happy to help out in the kitchen, she pulled up her stool to the counter and meticulously followed my directions. "Two cups of flour, baking powder..."
Finally it was time for the bananas. As she was mashing them Brianna stopped, looked up at me and asked, "mommy, is this banana bread?"
"Yes, why?"
"I didn't know you could make that! That's my favorite kind of bread!"
Poor child, I suppose her expectations are lower since she is being raised by an undomestic goddess.

New Pictures!!
Saturday we had the kids pictures taken. There were a ton of great photos to choose from. Here are two of the very cute individual shots:

Moments to Savor
I was just standing in the middle of the kids' room. I didn't make it home from work on time for bedtime tonight, sometimes that just happens in tax season.
The lullaby CD is playing quietly in the background and the "nuh-night light" is shining softly, so I can see all of the details of each of their beautiful faces.
Nate has his legs tucked up under his belly so that his buns are hanging out of the blanket. When he is wearing his footy PJ's and is sound asleep he still looks just the teeniest bit like the baby I still think he is.
I can see the faintest bit of drool escaping from the corner of his perfect little lips. I tuck him in further and look around at the chaos he has created in his last ditch efforts to persuade Jeff to let him back out of his crib. Animals and blankets are strewn in a wide radius around him and a lone blue Little Einsteins sippy is upended near the changing table. Still, in all this, Ted is held close.
Accross the room "Poly" the penguin humidifier is puffing out soft mists of moisture from the top of Brianna's dresser. Next to that, a treasured photo of her and Annelise on their first day of preschool.
Always restless, Bri has worked her way out from under the covers and is semi-entangled in "Purple and Green Blankie". A stark contrast to the chaos of her covers "Pink Silky and Pink Baby" are nestled in a precise pattern to her right. Pink baby has been on many adventures since she was received, and although a bit worse for the wear, she still remains a treasured constant in Brianna's heart.
I softly kiss Brianna's forehead and whisper "I love you Breezy Bru". From somewhere in dreamland Bri murmers back "I love you too mommy".

Show-and-Tell
Brianna has show-and-tell tomorrow at preschool and each time the school provides a theme. This week the theme is "something that you play pretend with". Bri decided she wants to take her pretend coffee pot.
"Why do you want to take that Bri? Are you going to show how you play pretend kitchen?"
"No. I'm going to show how I'm pretending to be a mommy, so I need a coffee pot"
Hmmmm... Maybe she's noticed my desperate need for Java in the morning...

Bri Goes to the Dentist
Brianna had her first dental cleaning today. She was so good and her teeth looked great! She had a fun time learning all about the fun dental tools like "Mr. Thirsty" a "Squirt Gun" and a "Flashlight" above her. She even got to ride the chair up and down.

Auntie Again!
Looks like I'm going to be an Aunt again. Maddie announced the news on the phone with "mama baby". That was about it for the conversation from her side, but we got the message. We can't wait to have another little guy or gal to add to the family. Ya know, the name Jamie would work for either....maybe I should suggest that.
Cousins
At Ben's first birthday party the boys were not shy about delving into the chocolate cake. After covering themselves with frosting we decided it was time to hose them off. Since Jackie's bathroom is under construction we decided that the sink would work perfectly. I can't believe how similar they look sometimes. They both have the same color hair and the same skin. It is so much fun to watch our boys grow up together and to watch Bri herding them like little ducklings.
